Aprilia has announced a private test with Jorge Martin at Misano on Wednesday as part of his MotoGP comeback preparations for his expected return at the Czech Republic Grand Prix. The private test day was confirmed by Aprilia to allow Martin to ride the RS-GP, their MotoGP prototype. Aprilia took advantage of a new regulation they instigated, allowing a rider out injured for three or more grands prix to do a private test day – as is the case for Martin who missed multiple races due to injuries. After missing six MotoGP rounds and undergoing a medical examination, Martin was cleared to test, but not to race at the Sachsenring GP. Despite feeling good during sessions on an Aprilia RSV4, Martin will need a final medical check before rejoining a race at the Czech Republic GP, the last round before the summer break. It’s crucial for Martin to return before the break to prevent a prolonged layoff and to have a period of rest after his first race post-injury.
